How to conserve a fen!

The final field trip of the year saw the convoy of MSc students, along with the ever present Christian Dunn and NRW’s Justin Hanson and Peter Jones navigate the Cors Bodeilio lime-rich fen once more.

Bangor Science festival is a organised every year to remember Dr Tom Parry Jones, a former Bangor Uni students' contribution to society (the automatic breathalyser). The festival is part funded by the Dr Tom Parry Jones fund and Pontio (Bangor Uni).

The earliest start to date for a field trip lived up to its expectations of a wild and wintery affair; in fact it was so wet I’m still wringing out my eyeballs. Fellow students relayed stories of only one prior trip in three years that topped this one in terms of rain.

The river Conwy catchment area is a unique study site as it is solely peatland influenced, there is no mineral soil and therefore any changes that are observed are cannot be caused mineral soil.
